How to hard shut down the phone?

Samsung s7. Was dropped and won't work so I got a replacement. How do I shut the phone off NOT RESTART just shut off? Screen is completely black and I cannot shut off the phone using screen controls. Tried holding the power button and it did nothing. Tried power and volume down (both connected to charger and not connected) and it only reset it. I'm trying to get the replacement phone working but can't until the old one turns off... and it won't

Welcome to the forums. If you are trying to simulate a battery pull, that will restart the device. I think an ADB command will shut it down, but if you didn't have USB debugging enabled that won't work. Perhaps Samsung will be able to tell you a way?
