I have Gingerbread 2.3.6 on an AT&T phone. I want to hide or remove some pre-installed/system apps such as games I will never play. No jailbreaking.
My research says I must use an app to do it, but I don?t know which free one to get.

To my knowledge you need to be rooted to get rid of bloat.

Go settings - applications - all apps - find the apps you dont want - click on them one buy one and click deactivate (top right) and no root needed.

Thanks, stalemate1, but that option isn’t available.
If I go to settings - applications - all apps - find an app I don’t want - and click on it, there is no “deactivate” anywhere. There are things such as Force stop, Cancel, Clear Data, Move to SD card, Clear cache, and Clear defaults.

That option was available on 4.0

Ok it was worth a try...

I've found an app on Google play that should do it for you (dont think it needs root.)
