Android Central Question

I have an Android device as add on to my car multimedia it is an old and locked version of Android with no option of adding apps
How can I install a new android version now it runs as 4.1.2 root verion
I don't minde going to 4.1.2 but a regular version
And how can I know what is the newest version they support my hardware

Welcome to Android Central! You'd have to do a search to see if anyone has developed a custom ROM for that device based on a higher Android version. Assuming this is an obscure/off-brand Android head unit, the chances of that are low. XDA-Developers.com is a good resource for this kind of thing.

and, to be frank, a device running 4.1.2 is not going to run a version of Android new enough to make much of a difference for app support. You'd want to be on at least 5.0, which is at least 4 versions newer than the one it's on now.
