How to keep gps working when screen is off and power saving is on

I've been trying to use a sports app called Ski Tracks while medium power saving is on.

The problem is that once the screen turns off the app looses the GPS signal.

It works fine if switch to optimised mode but I would like to use it with medium power saving enabled.

My phone is Samsung s10e with android 10, oneUI 2.0.

I've been trying various settings to make it work, my last configuration is :

Disabled optimised battery for:

Slocation
Samsung location sdk
Samsung positioning
Ski tracks

Alow location access all the time for:
Ski tracks

Adaptive power saving - off
Adaptive battery - on
Put unused apps to sleep - on
Adaptive battery - on
Sleeping apps - Ski Tracks not in list
Apps that won't be put to sleep: Ski Tracks can not be selected, since optimised battery is disabled for it.

You are trying to get the phone to work in a way that it wasn't designed. Power saving always turns off gps

Hello, I am the author of the question.

I want to add that I could do this with my previous phone with android 7 and it's a pitty that it's not working anymore.


It was very useful in my opinion to have the benefits of power saving and in the same time to be able to use apps that track the position.
