How to keep screen from turning on when docking Note 2

I have a Note 2 (still) and find it annoying that the screen turns on whenever it's plugged in or unplugged. I can't find the setting to change this. Is it even possible to change that setting?

It's standard for the screen to turn on when you plug it in. There might be some way to prevent that from happening, but it most likely requires rooting and perhaps using Xposed Framework.

Yeaahhh I kinda figured that was probably the case. Maybe the new ones won't :/
