[How To][Links] Themes, ROMs, Kernels, Boot Animations: 9-16-11

I do believe you're right about ROM files. I will ODIN cwm-recovery-ALL-3-30-FIX.tar and then I'll wipe cache and dev and flash Super_FrankenClean_2_9_2v_CWM_FIX.zip.

I think I'll be able to maintain data and apps. If not, I'm backed up.

Your thoughts?

Thx

Yes, those steps, CWM first, ROM with CWM second. You will keep your data and apps.

Four of the top four on this link are designed for this ROM specifically.. listed in the title.. I helped gunnermike53 on both of his.. Alien and Blue Midnight

There will be many more.. stay tuned.

Four of the top four? Is that directly from the department of redundancy department? Or is that more like 4 out of 5 dentists recommend Trident for their patients who chew gum? :p:D

Niiice. Only problem I see is I don't speak Russian :-!

Adds to the drama and excitement!! Forging new territory and stuff like that...

Famous last words.. Yeahhh not even that daring. :-!

So you said sbrissen has this? Do you know if he is going to roll it out soon?

EDIT - nevermind. couldn't read. Just downloaded.

I got it worked out. I would be cautious of the Megadownload mirror - at least three posters on XDA suffered the same fate as I did.. FCLOH

I downloaded a corrupted file.. (actually two) the first I caught and deleted. The second was flashed to the phone. Caused some headaches and had to Odin back to EB01 two times to clear the issues. Once that was resolved - Community ROM on and running well. Working out a few bugs but nothing that is a deal killer.. it is the best ROM I have run on this phone..

I say do it..

Oh Im for sure doing it...

So which mirror do you suggest? One over the other?
Also, Ive since went back to unrooted stock ED01. I seen where this was also voodoo only. What steps do you suggest to get into this ROM? Also, does this come with a kernel? If not, do you suggest a good one with this ROM?

Gunnermike u are sick sick sick i love the alien theme v3 on the com rom and ur shutdown is slick and im running ur blue havok its absolutly fascinating haha great work

Ahhhhh!!! I wish the photo hosting sites wouldn't restrict bandwidth so much! I just want to see screen shots of the new themes for the ComRom! (So I know which one to choose!)

As it is, been running ComRom for over an hour now. Love it so far.

I was running SC 2.9.2v with VA Green theme... wiped cache and Dalvik then flashed the ComRom over it immediately followed by the 1.1 patch then rebooted and all works great.

My one question is this: I had imnuts' -50mv kernel prior to upgrading to ComRom... Do I still have that kernel, our did the ComRom replace it? And if it did replace it, would it be safe to go back to it?

Comm ROM replaced the imnuts kernel with nemesis2all's OTB TW kernel. If it's not working for your setup you can boot to cwm and flash the imnuts -50mv kernel. I know I switched to times_infinity's ComaVolt kernel while I was testing the ROM with no problems. Worst thing that will happen is your phone will freeze up, and that is easily fixed.

You can use any mirror now.. I was trying to obtain the ROM at the highest demand time and during a rush.. you must pay attention to the size of the download 155.7 meg.. Yes.. comes with a really good voodoo kernel..

To get this ROM installed; clear caches and flash in CWM... Simple.. There is a patch to install after you have the ROM on the phone... another flash and you are ready to play.

JaeKar99 - me again

Odined cwm-recovery 3.30 Fix and no issues. Haven't had time to flash SC 2.9.2 yet but noticed something strange after charging battery and running "Battery Calibration" app that I've been using successfully for some time now.

After 100% charge, unplug and attempt to calibrate, app say "Device need to be Rooted" ???? Could I have lost Root along way? Is that possible?

Your thoughts and advice are always appreciated.

You may have deleted the superuser in your efforts to fix the boot animation issue or.. you may have changed something and you lost root.. you can try to fix permissions and see if that changes things..

However, it sounds as though you have a pervasive problem with the ROM. I believe that a full wipe and ROM install may be needed to fix all the problems.

Jae great work on switching over things to 3.x u truly r a machine! Im thinking of making the switch now that u r changing the bootups and such, so let me ask this with the new clockwork 3.x do u need to hit "apply sd:update.zip" after u flash something or is it the same like in 2.5.x where u hit back and dont touch "apply sd:update.zip" than reboot thanks

The new CWM is installed just like the 3-30 version. Either via Odin flash or you can put the zip file on the sdcard and flash it onto your phone.. then you will have it installed..

You will not have to use the install update.zip function.

Please keep in mind that this process of the community switching over will take time.. If you find that you need a particular zip file and it is not edify ready you may have to wait till it is packaged.. or talk to the developer to get it ready sooner.

Sorry for the confusion.. I am bouncing between projects..

It will work and look almost identical to 2.5.1.x..
There are some (few) cosmetic differences but the form and function are the same. Use it just like you would use 2.5.1.x..
