how to mark email as unread in gmail app

In gmail app, after reading any email, how can we again mark it as unread. I didn't find any way to do same in gmail app.

Yes, all you have to do after reading the email, is put a check next to any email you want to show as unread, at the bottom of the app you should see an envelope that looks like it's open, press that and it will save your email as unread (the envelope at the bottom of the app will now look like it's closed).

Open the email and press the envelope icon second from the right. Or long press on the email so it selects and press the same icon.

Every day my galaxy s4 shows emails open even after I have read them. Sometimes it shows 10, 15 , 25 emails open when I know that I hit the envelope icon on the bottom. Any thing I should do to stop this from happening.
