How to miracast from pixel 2 to dr j projector

I've got a Dr j pro projector with HDMI and USB connection ports.
I want to connect my pixel 2 to it and mirror cast my screen.

How do I add a wireless display app to my pixel 2 phone and make it cast to the projector?

Unless the projector has built-in mirroring/wireless monitor capabilities, short answer is you can't.

However, since the projector has an HDMI port you can get a streamer box/dongle that supports mirroring like a Roku or Chromecast. Bear in mind that these require both the streamer and the phone to be connected to the same WiFi network for mirroring to be available.

You might also find cheaper dongles online that might support WiFi-Direct connections, allowing you to connect the phone and the streamer directly without needing a router/WiFi network in the 'middle', but not entirely sure if the Pixel supports that.

Stay away from the Roku's, their complete and utter garbage with no support, extremely poorly developed software that is constantly being broken with auto updates that can't be turned off, every time they restart themselves or you restart it to fix it's constant issues it logs you out of your apps which you have to use a separate pc/laptop to log back in....... and worst of all they're doing the same thing Apple got busted for, they're purposefully slowing down their older devices to force people to upgrade. Do your research on Rokrap, then buy a Chromecast ;-)

While I do love Chromecast, their app support is more limited (and you still can't use a Chromecast on secondary login networks like hotels). I, personally, have not had issues with Rokus (yes, their apps can look a bit dated compared to the likes of a mApple TV or Android apps, but no issues for me on both Roku TVs and Roku sticks...one of which I constantly use for traveling due to Chromecast's aforementioned shortcoming). The login part is annoying, yes, but that's half the fault of the providers. In theory 'single login' for thins like cable provider credentials will be coming, but most apps do still require you to re-log in if not used after a certain period of time or will log you out of 'old' device logins if you sign into a new device/session.
