How to permanently disable clock in notification bar? Keeps coming back.

Hi everyone,

I'm using a different app for the notification bar on my new phone so I unchecked the 'Time' switch in the System UI Tuner - disabling the clock. But every time I lock and unlock my screen, the clock returns. When I revisit the System UI Tuner, I have to re-enable and disable 'Time' again for it to leave.

Is there any way to fix this?

I'm on stock Android 8.0 Oreo.
