Speaker phone and bluetooth output volume

It seems like over the last couple updates, something has changed with volume. I use speaker phone often when out walking, and my bold Pixel 6 Pro was almost never loud enough, though Indoors, speaker phone is plenty loud. My new Pixel 9 Pro XL seemed to be an improvement, until recently, when my perception is it's now no better than my old P6. It also seems to be affecting my ringer volume, as well as I've noticed a drop in volume while listening to music over my stereo connected via Bluetooth (I swore I got some kind of message saying my phone was limiting the volume to protect my ears).
Anyone else notice this?
