Hi,

I am using default samsung camera app to record video. I started recording and I accidentally stop it without myself knowing it. I think I might have accidentally pressed the stop record button when I was zooming in/out or accidentally touched the stop record button.

How to prevent stop recording video accidentally? Is there some feature or some app that can make it harder to stop video recording? e.g. long press to stop, slide to stop, double press to stop, hide the stop record button during recording to the edge (slide from edge to appear if I want to stop recording)

Thanks

Just a couple of questions to be sure we're looking at the same things.

How long did your video record for? Did it appear to cut off at an even number or perfect minute?

Rather than thinking you accidentally stopped the video, I mean we've been using these devices for years at this point with similar attributes, we all know where the buttons are and how to avoid them, so my first thought when reading your post wasn't that you had accidentally stopped the recording but rather the recording had stopped on it own due to recording limits when recording in HD at 4k or 8k. Samsung got me this way a couple of phones ago. Of coursing having all this horse power under the hood, so to speak, I thought all of my memories should be in high definition, until I started running into these limits.

If you tell us that you were not recording in HD and/or your video stopped at some odd count, 03:21:03 and not 04:00:00, I'll agree that you may have accidently stopped it.

Let us know what you find.

Unfortunately not in the stock camera. Check if you don't have other shooting methods enabled (like the volume buttons) as those are easier to hit when you're holding the phone.
Do you know what camera app can prevent accidentally stop recording video?

During recording video, if I accidentally press the power button, the screen will become black and will stop recording video, any idea how to make the power button "do nothing" if I accidentally press the power button during recording video?

Thanks for your suggestion. I have disabled press volume keys to take picture or record video. camera settings>shooting methods>press volume keys to>select [control system volume]

Good guide

To prevent stop recording from occurring just use you different mode for video. It is called timer recording, where it counts down a clock from 3 and records till you stop.
Where is the timer recording for video recording in the default camera app? It seems like there is only timer for photo.

Recorded over 40mins and a few seconds using UHD, stopped at some odd count.

How to know what is the recording limit for "recording had stopped on it own due to recording limits when recording in HD at 4k or 8k"?

I was using thumb and index finger to pinch to zoom in then after zooming it to the correct size I realized the video has stopped recording, so I am quite sure I accidentally pressed something to stop the video recording during I was zooming in.

I think my 3 unused fingers accidentally hit the stop button on the screen, similar to this screenshot

I found a solution by using Open Camera app but Open Camera app is unable to have the same highest resolution as the Samsung default Camera app in A32 5G

To prevent accidentally stop recording video, I enabled this setting in open camera app:
open camera>settings>video settings>enable [Lock screen when recording video. When recording video. the GUI will be locked to prevent accidentally stopping recording. Swipe the screen to unlock. Note that video recording will always stop if the app goes into background or the screen is blanked.]

Open Camera app highest Video resolution setting available is [2560x1440]
Samsung default Camera app highest Video resolution setting available is [UHD30]. I think [UHD30] is 3840 x 2160
I have tried to record video in both highest video resolution setting and the samsung camera app is clearer.

How to set Open Camera app to use Video resolution [UHD30]?

Is there an app that could add a feature of "Lock screen when recording video" into the Samsung default Camera app?

Thanks
