Been kind of fidling with the Setcpu app after rooting with unevoked.. (obviously a noob)

i dont quite fully understand the whole userspace, ondemand, and performance thing.

if anyone knows about how this works id i would love for you to shine some light on the subject or post a link for me!

thank you!

wow pretty much exactly what i was looking for! thank you man,

for yourself and others who use this app what do keep yours at (without other profiles)

i guess i keep mine at 998mhz scaling performance 998 max and 245 with auto detect on? i really dont knotice much but would love to see what you guys keep your other profiles at.

Conski, I used to run several profiles, but now I just run my main profile at 1190 max/245 min and on demand. I also have an overtemp profile that scales it back to 998/245, but that is it.

I honestly don't think that underclocking saves much battery. I'm sure that someone can give you a definite answer on this though.

It saves A LOT of battery especially when the screens off.

Profile condition max/min priority setting

Temp >50 576/128 100% ondemand
Screen off 128/128 95% ondemand
Charging/Full 1152/128 90% performance
Battery

Screw these Overclocking apps...

SetCPU owned my phone 1 a many times never again.... blehhhhhh

I'm losing less than 1% per hour when my display is off. I'm not buying that bogging your cpu down is increasing battery life without some results from testing.

Call me crazy, but I think that all you're doing by underclocking your cpu is creating a operating bottleneck and the end result will be your phone working just as hard or harder to do whatever it needs to do.

It's definitely a trade-off. If the cpu scales up to perform an operation, the faster it's going, the faster that task will be finished and the cpu will scale back down again on it's own. Force it to stay low, and it takes longer to perform that same operation. But it's hard to know which one saves more battery power...

I'm not sure about other ROMs/kernels, but I did notice with my current setup (in my sig) that I get better battery life without setcpu. But I would definitely say it has to do with what kernel you're using more than anything. Some kernels (I'm sure) handle scaling much more efficiently than others.
