My drive C is full due to back ups made to Samsung folder in my documents folder that has Smart switch, Kies3 & Kies

Any veteran Samsung user that can guide me how to do it safely relocate this Samsung back up folder that include these 3 folders and still make these app work?

P.S. I backed up several types of Samsung phones across time so each has different info/pics/etc and need them all.

Yes, it's so hard to understand, that although I know what to do to solve your problem, I won't bother you with any details from my hard to understand brain. Now, foad.

I doubt that a brilliant brain like yours has a solution when you can't even understand the question, you don't seem to be able to understand what a backup does in a phone, if you had a clue you would have answered instead of wasting time asking why I am asking, and what are you trying to prove by posting that screenshot? yes, is it that hard to understand? the fact that you are following me around the forum replying to what I PMed about a different post just shows how immature you are.

I haven't used Kies and Kies3 in ages, but those backups are pretty much useless now unless you still have your old phones. New phones don't connect to Kies or Kies3 anymore so you can't restore those backup files anymore to newer phones. Your best bet would be to restore them to your old phone, then backup that old phone into SmartSwitch. Or extract the data into something not in a proprietary backup format and save them in a folder on your PC as is.

As for moving SmartSwitch folders. You can do two things:
1. Just manually cut and move them somewhere, like an external hard drive. This would work, however to access them for restore you have to cut and move them back to the default directory.
2. Go to SmartSwitch>More>Preferences>Backup folder location>change. Select the folder you want to use. I don't remember if yoy have to manually move the old backups to the new folder. Just do that if the move doesn't automatically happen.

Thanks for the info chanchan05

I guess I have to keep the old phones then to access the backed up info, I was about to give them away.

I will try and see what happens with smart switch.

I honestly spent all night transferring and trying to back up whatsapp from one phone to another few weeks ago, it should have been a quick thing but it turned into a mess and I almost deleted the whatsapp backup that is why I wanted to check with users here.

Thanks again & Best Regards

I tried this, but the older backup files still in the same folder; if you move the folder manually, then the smart switch won't recognize them. Those files will be recognized again if one puts them back into the old location again.

Any Ideas to change the "smart" switch folder address registry?
