How to replace microphone icon with emojis s5

I used to have my keyboard set up to where I could just tap on the smiley face next to the comma but then I factory reset my phone and now it's the microphone icon and I have to press and hold on mic icon and then go over to to emojis. I'm an avid emoji user and find this very annoying given that I never once have used the microphone. Is there any way around this? Thanks!
