[HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY! UPDATE:1/3/11

Re: [HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY!

I then side-loaded the 1.4.1 but it doesn't seem to be working at it's full function. I can't get the netflix app, and my nookfriends just hangs there. There are a few other apps that I can't use either.

I used Clockwork Mod to install the ZIP containing the 1.4.1 B&N stock firmware (that I provided the link to in a previous post) and have had no problems with any of my apps (e.g. I was able to download/install the Netflix and Rhapsody apps, and they run just fine -- I can't speak for NookFriends, as I've never used that app). I installed to the emmc (i.e. internal memory) over an existing stock B&N 1.3 firmware -- I don't now if that had anything to do with the success of my upgrade.

Good luck! I hope you are able to get your stock install working well again.

Re: [HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY!

Hi, I have a problem.

I tried installing Honeycomb v4 onto my Nook Color, and after the install it was stuck on the lock screen. Not wanting to work with it anymore, I tried to follow this guide to restore my NC to stock, but now it is looping at the "Nook Color by Barnes and Noble" screen.

If anyone could give me some information on how to fix this, that would be great.

Re: [HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY!

I have a question. I recently followed directions on how to change my Nook Color to an android tablet via this link Jim Klein :: Weblog :: Turning your Nook Color into the tablet you want it to be. I was having error messages so I decided to change it back to stock and try it again. I used the following directions:
Restoring your Nook Color to Stock 1.2

If you experience problems, or you decide you don't like CyanogenMod (ie, you're crazy ;-) ), you can easily restore your Nook to stock (and retry the update, if you so choose) by following these steps:

Note: if you downloaded and installed the update prior to 6/1/11, you will need to re-download the updated image file and re-image your microSD card using the steps in parts 1 & 2 above before following these steps.

Hold down the power button on your Nook and power it off. Then, insert the microSD card you imaged in Part 2, and power it back on.
Press the volume down button to select "install zip from sdcard" and press the "n" button to select
Press the volume down button to select "choose zip from sdcard" and press the "n" button to select
Press the volume up/down buttons to select update-nc-stock-1.2-keepcwm-signed.zip from the list, and press the "n" button to select
Choose "Yes" to install, and wait for the install to complete. Will be a few minutes
When done, press the power button to go back to the main menu, select "Wipe data/factory reset", and press the "n" button to select. Choose "Yes" to wipe data, and wait for the process to complete. Important: You MUST wipe data on your Nook Color, or it will not boot when you restart it, and will require a bunch of extra steps to recover. Trust me: wipe your data.
When done, select "reboot system now", and press the "n" button to reboot.

When I turned on my Nook Color, it did revert back to stock HOWEVER, when it prompted me to type in my email, the touch screen keyboard continually blinked; thus, keeping me from using my Nook. Now when I turn it on, it gets stuck on the screen with the nook emblem. I have attempted to restore it to stock again, but when I use WinImage to copy the clockwork-3.0.2.8.img to the SD card, I receive an error that states, "Error in writing disk the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".

I NEED HELP! ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREAT!

For starters, use 3.2.0.1 in the link I provided......

Re: [HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY! UPDATE:1/

Re: [HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY!

i have been coming into the same problems myself.... my nook is stuck on the nook logo screen and on top of that i cant get clock work recovery to reformat data.. i always get an error. im thinking part of the problem might be because of me trying to use old clockwork recovery of that the software doesnt sit right with all of the recovery files Ive been imputing it had 1.2.0 but all of the stuff i found was mostly for 1.1. I'm not sure what i should do now. I'm stuck and frustrated, so plz do tell if you figured out the answerer to your problem.

Did you use the latest clockwork that I added today?

The you created a bad image and need to do it again. 1.4.1 has no bearing on it....

Re: [HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY! UPDATE:1/

This guide worked exactly as it said it would. I was able to restore back to stock 1.3 but for some strange reason my touch screen does not work when stock asks me to set up everything. I can boot into CM7 from the sd card and it works fine but once i'm back on stock 1.3 the touchscreen does not work. any ideas? By the way thanks for the guide

Re: [HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY! UPDATE:1/

I also have CM7 on my Nook, not on SD. I never registered my nook and now my charger is broken. I need to go back to stock to register and then restore back to CM7. Can I just backup my CM7 Rom, install Stock, Register, Restore to CM7? Anyone see any problem. Wonder if I can register without going to stock. hmm. TIA.

That should work fine.

Hmm.. Looks like you have one of the newer nooks with a different touchscreen driver. You will need to update to 1.4.1. I'll see if I can find a flashable zip.

Ok follow the instructions and use this zip instead CWM Installable B&N NookColor 1.4.1
or wait until I finish uploading to multiupload if you don't want to mess around with RapidShare.

Re: [HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY! UPDATE:1/

so if i have a 1.3 nook can i have now a NC 1.4.1 stock nook? hehe, i'm really new to this stuff. i tried to root my nook and thought i did everything right but now my nook is stuck at a nook color screen (while booting) but it doesn't get past it. so i'll try to go back to stock

Re: [HOW-TO] : Restore Nook Color back to stock EASILY! UPDATE:1/

Thanks for the great steps. I'm pretty new at this rooting stuff and somehow I must have wiped the nook software as I couldn't restore back to it at all. Wanted to start from scratch and this helped out great.

Thanks!!!

I'd really like to restore to stock but multiupload seems to be down...at least according to the news. Is there an alternative download site?
