How To retrieve the messages which were sent to me during the time my phone was broken?

My phone broke about two weeks back. Today I came on whatsapp from a different phone and loaded the back up..All the messages were loaded except for the messages which were sent to me while my phone was broken..How can I retrieve those messages aswell?

Messages have an expiration date (both in SMS and Whatsapp). Not sure what that time may be for Whatsapp, but messages that couldn't be delivered by the server get purged and deleted after a while. I'm guessing, if you didn't get bombarded with a ton of message notifications, that time is less than two weeks.

I've left my phone off for 3 days and as soon as I turn it on, Whatsapp messages come pouring in. Backups are only performed on messages that have already been delivered/read.
