So I've added a Pixel 2 as my secondary phone to my Note 8...traded in the iPhone 6....I'm totally used to the Note 8 having the left onscreen button be "Show open apps" and the right button being "Back"....
On the Pixel 2 it's the opposite....my brain can't deal with that. Can I switch their function left to right and right to left to match the Note 8?
I know I can switch them on the Note 8, but I'm so used to it I'd for sure rather switch the Pixel 2.

Thanks! Am on 8.1 and VZW.

I am not aware of any way to do that on a Pixel.

Hhhhhmmm. I guess I can try switching the Note 8, but it feels wrong to a right-hander who is used to the Note 8 setup... I def use "Back" more than showing open apps and my right thumb can drop right down to back currently on the Samsung device...
Let's see if there are any other suggestions.... Perhaps a button-remapping app that could swap the soft buttons. Otherwise I will def have to switch the Note 8 and reprogram my brain and muscle memory some.... And at my age there are only so many neurons and registers left to do that.

probably only a custom rom could do that.

Samsung is the only company AFAIK who switched those buttons up (correct me if I'm wrong, just only one I am aware of). From a right handers standpoint you are right, it does make it closer to the thumb and is uses more often than the app switching button - but mentally it doesn't make sense, the back button should be to the far left, or at least to the left of home.

re:

Agree on all...I have reversed them on the Note 8 for now, just will take some mental reprogramming time I suppose. I had Note 4, 5 and 7 before this and S# and S$ before that so lot of muscle memory involved.

re:

Google could do it of course. I did see an article online recently that argued for button remapping as an option, and it does make sense on many levels.
