In Windows you have Odin, but heimdall is similar but for OS X, search how tos on youtube for heimdall.

Do you have a link on how root a galaxy s4 with heimdall? I want only to have root privilege, don't want to install any other rom. And finally I've a question: I loose all my data after rooting with heimdall?
