First and foremost -I have tested this to work on the Sprint Hero if you have other CDMA Heros or GSM Heros you should follow the link at the bottom to check for your device. I rooted with this app to test.

This is geared towards the most recent OTA build #2.32.651.2

Read this whole post first!!!

-A few tips before we get started to make this go as smooth as possible.-

-Go to settings>sounds & display>screen timeout> change to 1 minute until your done with rooting.
-Charge you battery while you read this post.
-Go to settings>applications>"check" unknown sources.

-Things you will need to complete the root process-
-If you download the app to your pc then get a file manager from the market to install the apk.

-What this app does is root your phone and install a custom recovery for you.-

- How To use-
-Download the app heroroot010.apk

1)Once app has ran it's course, reboot your phone.
2)When your phone has fully booted, power off again.
3)This time hold,Home+power continue to hold until recovery pops up.
4)In recovery, choose "flash zip from sdcard" choose "" When that's complete reboot. You should now have Super User app.
5)Now that you have root,go uninstall the apk you used to root.

Now that you have root you can run apps that require root access or you can flash custom roms.

-How to unroot-

1)Download the RUU- HTC_Sprint_Hero_MR_2.27.651.6.exe
2)The RUU must be run on a windows pc.
3) There is two OTA updates that you will have to accept and install after running the RUU to be back at the most current stock version.

If you have any questions do a search,if you can't find the answers start a new thread.

We are not responsible for your device, SD cards, thermonuclear war, or the current economic crisis. Please do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, we are simply making them available. - Steve Kondik
