[How to] Rooting HTC EVO Froyo 2.2 (Windows)

1. Rom manager now works.!!

2. After I do the updates above- radio and wimax- which I assume completes my steelrom?? Do I then create a nanroid from the hboot or backup from rom manager?

3. Thankyou again for the patience and the help

The Nandroid is actually made in recovery not hboot, and using the "backup" in rom manager just reboots in to recovery and makes a nandroid backup. rom manager makes it nice and easy though.

The above updates just update your phone's radio and wimax radio, steelrom is now installed. New radio versions should (maybe) help with better reception and data speed.

As far as installing a new rom, does rom manager wipe the 5 you mentioned, or do I need to go to recovery?

Stuck in boot loader screen

I followed the directions listed in this post to a T and now my phone is stuck in the bootloader screen???? Anyone know how to fix this?

Man, it just doesn't seem like it's as easy as it sounds. I'm on a MacBook Pro, and so far none of the threads I've read seem to give instructions for it. Anyone know of a thread to help?

Thanks for the great instructions. Got a new EVO and yest and rooted today and everything works great. I do have some questions though:

1) I used simple root and ra_recovery to get root. When I want to flash a new rom or radio or something, or to do a nandriod backup, I open up simple root and click flash recovery again, and that gets me into ra_recovery. Do I need to do this everytime? I tried just booting into recovery without having it connected to my computer, and it isn't the ra_recovery. Just making sure I'm doing it the right way.

2) Is there a detailed description somewhere for describing the different types of wipes?

3)If I put on a new ROM what do I NOT need to wipe in order to keep my programs? How about settings, do they carry over, or do you need to set up your accounts and everything again, or settings for programs (saved progress in a game etc).

i got a problem,im all done but im at the pc136 part, my phone checks s it then gos right back to bootloader, it doesnt do anything, it doesnt ask me to upgrade or anything.

I can answer #1 now, you just hit the power button and hit reboot and there is an option for recovery, which boots into the ra-recovery now. I still would appreciate if anyone can explain to me or point me to a description of the different types of wiping so I know what I can wipe and what I can't when putting on a new rom and what I will or won't lose.
