How to safely prepare phone for Sprint Activation ?

I've searched around and replied a some other threads, I decided to try my own thread. I do not want to brick my phone, and I have some concerns some info is out of date.

I recently rooted, installed Xionia Recovery and put on Drew's stable CM7 build. I decided to mess around via wifi before making the jump of changing from sero to sero-p and leave the HTC touch pro 2 behind.

Well I went ahead and made the plunge, but we could not get the phone activated. They had me try a few different ## commands and nothing worked.
##786# etc.

I prefer to not go back to stock recovery and just get a stock ROM back on here.
Then be able to run the ## commands or whatever to get this on sprint.
Then put the Drew CM7 back on and call it a day....

is this anything of interest to perhaps switch-out the prior owners ID and put in mine as discussed here?

I could be wrong, but I don't think CM7 supports Sprint provisioning and/or the ## codes.

You should go back to stock, get it provisioned, then install CM7 if that is really what you want to run. You could also run a ROM based off of the stock LG release, like Reborn and it should support the ## codes and provisioning. That might meet your needs and be easier to experiment with until you know exactly what you want to run.

If you have Xionia recovery, you are fine, no reason to revert to stock recovery.

What is the stock file I need to flash via xionia_cwma_12518.6?

Maybe it would be best to just try reborn since I am not sure what that file is...
so then just boot into recover then:
1) Perform a FULL data/cache wipe (Wipe data, cache, and dalvik-cache)
2) Wipe (or format) /boot and /system from the "mounts and storage" menu in recovery mode.
3) Flash Reborn ROM using the "install zip from sdcard" option in recovery mode.
4) Reboot and try the ## commands?

EDIT
BTW what are all of those ## commands? found http://forums.androidcentral.com/sprint-optimus-s/50772-sprint-lg-hidden-menus.html

I went and and did taht and flashed the reborn.
the ## commands work. I unfortuantely failed to write down the MSL and the chat transcripts are ***** in place of it.
boo
have to wait until tomorrow i guess.
thanks!

Did you get it activated? Just so you know you can activate a sprint phone online. Just log into your account and there is a menu bar on the right that says I want to... select Activate a new phone. It walks you through entering the esn number on your phone then it will give you the ## codes and msl number for your specific phone.

I used the system several times last year, switching phone 3 times in one day sometimes. I haven't used it in a while since I sold my extra smartphones and I'm grandfathered in without premium data fee.

Call Sprint, ask for technical support. Tell them your phone is behaving strangely and not activating so they suggested you do a ##786# reset, but it is asking you for some code and you are stuck. They will give you a 6 digit #. That is your MSL.

Please, please, only do ##786# reset *if* you are running stock recovery or Xionia recovery. If you don't know what recovery you are running it is best you don't forge ahead and just go for it as you could potentially brick your phone adding much more headache to something that should be relatively simple. If you are not sure, ask. Most things you can recover from easily. This isn't one of them, though you can recover in most cases.

I flashed reborn rom and then was able to get all of the activation and PRL updated!

4) Reboot and try the ## commands sprint wants you to do.

We had to go in and manually change the MSID and the other number.
Once complete, I flashed back to CM7.
All good except need to figure out how to use Sprint VVM or perhaps go to google voice....
