I'm very new to tablets ... and I am so confused. I have tried several file managers including Astro ... I downloaded it and then tried saving a picture but it still doesn't give me any options, so I cannot specify what folder I want to save it in, or what I want to name the pictures file. What am I doing wrong? All I want to do is save a picture but instead of having it download without any options I want to have the save as option, and pick which folder to put the image in. Can someone help? And can anyone give me tips on how to organize my files easily? Or can someone link me to tutorials? The main thing I want is to just organize my pictures so that when I download pic editors, or graphic editors I can easily find the pics I want to make graphics n stuff.

For most apps, downloaded files (including pictures) go to the Downloads folder, which you can usually access quickly by going to your All Apps screen and tapping Downloads. You typically can't specify a download path, although I think some apps can do it. So you're usually limited to downloading a picture to your Downloads folder, then using a file manager app (either the stock app on your device if it has one, or a 3rd party one like Astro) to move that picture to a folder of your choosing.

Hi Amanda. If you're downloading photos from the web, they likely are put into your Downloads folder by default. That's where all downloaded files go to, unless the app doing the downloading gives you an option. So using a files manager (I prefer Solid Explorer and also ES File Explorer), navigate to the Downloads folder, then move the photos to wherever you wish.

If you're transferring photos from your computer, then your would open Windows Explorer on your computer to see the files and folders on your N7. Navigate to your preferred folder location, or create a new one with Explorer, and copy/paste your photos there.

Also, a lot of photo oriented apps, like Instagram, create their own folder within the default Pictures folder that Android has. Edited pictures are then saved within that folder.

hmmm....sounds like you might like QickPic, since it does what you want to do and more. Install it and give it a test drive

I remember seeing a file manager that said it has the "save as" option for picture files but I can't remember which file manager it is. Do you know of any? .. When I asked that question I wasn't asking how to save pictures on the nexus itself, but I meant to ask what file manager can I use to get the save as option when saving a picture. I'm really sorry if I'm just confusing or don't make sense..

I don't see how what a file manager can do will help if you are downloading the pictures from the web (you have not confirmed whether this is the case). I also don't see how QuickPic will help if this is the case. If you are indeed downloading using your web browser, you need to find a web browser that offers save as and I don't know which if any of them do.

Otherwise you are stuck copying/moving/renaming using a file manager and any of them can do this...
