How to send a sound?

In the stock messaging app, how do I send sounds and downloaded ringtones? When I click the paper clip I can only "record audio", not send anything already stored on my phone.

I had to use handcent. You can download for free from the market. I don't believe you can with the stock messenger.

why wouldn't you email attachments like that? sounds like nothing but trouble trying to send files like that via text...

handcent is the way to go. The stock messaging app just can't do it for some reason.
