i have samsung galaxy j7 mobile.recently i got updated to marshmallow o.s from samsung.i heard that we can setup sd card as default storage in marshmallow o.s.pls guide me to do this.my sd card currently set as portable storage

You can only do this for the camera, not for apps. Adaptive storage needs to be supported by the device to use SD card as internal storage but even then apps won't be installed on that card. I don't think the J7 supports this

Would this be the same reason why my apps I know I've moved to my SD card will be moved right back to the internal storage after an update?

Hi, most likely as it's not supported any longer or advisable as sd cards are not as fast as internal storage and can get corrupt and cause system slow down and other behavior. Its recommend to use it as portable storage for picture, video ect .

Welcome to Android Central! That's normal behavior for apps that can be moved to SD. Whenever they're updated, the system automatically moves them back to Internal Storage, because apps still have to download and install to Internal Storage first (and that includes updating an app). They won't automatically move back to SD afterwards, so you have to do that manually.
