Hi,

How to show date at the status bar? (status bar meaning the top bar that shows the time, battery percent etc)

The clock settings in my Samsung galaxy A32 5G phone does not have the feature to show date at the status bar.

I tried these apps but they do not work, unable to show date at status bar
DateBar https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.omer.datestatusbar
Date in Status Bar HD https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wagwan.datestatusbarhd

Thanks

22 Aug 2024 update, my solution:

Good Lock Quickstar works but the date cannot be adjusted in older phones so some part of the date is blocked by the front camera for some settings. Only newer phones with newer samsung UI can adjust the date format to shorten the date so nothing will be blocked by the front camera, follow this video to customise date format (0:43min
)

This app Always Visible Time and Memo works very well as an alternative to Good Lock Quickstar because I can select date format, make it small, position it above the time, so nothing is blocked by the front camera, Always Visible Time and Memo https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=wan.util.showtime

Apps listed below works but if there is new notification the date may move to the right or disappear for some time because of new notification appearing on status bar
Calendar Status Bar https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wagwan.datemonthstatusbar
Date in Status Bar https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wagwan.datestatusbarlite
DateBar - date in status bar https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.omer.datestatusbar

Since the device likely shows the date when you tap the screen or before unlocking I will assume that you mean during use while unlocked, correct?

A quick search brought up this video on YouTube.

There are likely other videos with advice for this. I don't personally look for the date in the status bar so web searches is the best I can offer. Let us know if the above video answers your question.

The video is the DateBar app I mentioned it does not work in my first post. I have tried exactly the same steps in the video but it does not work.

Just curious, DateBar has 50K+ downloads and 0 reviews, why 0 reviews? I am thinking maybe it is buggy so the developer switch off the review function. Maybe it works for some phone models only.

BTW, more expensive Samsung phones by default has the feature to enable show date on the status bar but cheaper Samsung phones do not have it.

I still use Power Toggles, which has been one of my favorite Android apps, allowing you to create a persistent customized toggle bar in the notification panel. This app gives you the option of a persistent notification icon in the status bar as well, and one of the choices is the date. It's no longer available in the Play Store, but you can still install it from APKMirror (one of the only APK sites I trust, since it's run by Artem Russakovskii from Android Police): https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/painl...ase/power-toggles-6-0-4-android-apk-download/

If Good Lock from the Galaxy Store has support for your A32 5G, you can turn that feature on in the Quickstar module. (My screenshot shows it all toggled off, but those are the options.)

Sorry for suggesting the app you already tried, I don't watch every video or read every article I find when researching community questions. I leave that the OP, to whom the question is important.

In the meantime, I was wondering if Good Lock, or more drastically something like Nova, might have a solution. I don't know them that well so it was interesting to see it pop up.

To mustang's point of pulling down the shade slightly, you don't have to pull it all the way down even, I think I would rather do that vs losing that much space in my notification bar. Just me.

Best wishes, let us know what worked for you.

I find it easier like that and probably why Manufacturers did it that way not to clutter space in the status bar

I toggled on the feature in Good Lock & tried it on both the left & right side of the screen. It does take up a lot of space. If you used it on the left, I think most of your notification icons would be relinquished behind the overlow dot, so you'd be dragging down your notification panel more often.

Good Lock Quickstar works for me. I use it on the left, no notifications icon can be seen, the screenshot (edited to show cam lens position) below shows how it looks like when I am looking at the phone

What is the black dot at left status bar at the right of Jul 26? Can the black dot be removed or change to display a notification icon?

How to remove the Fri text so at least one notification can appear at the left status bar? I do not need to show what day of the week.

My purpose of showing date is to display a date when I am taking a screenshot, so I can look at the screenshot and know what date the screenshot was taken.

Thanks

The dot means there are unseen notifications. It's like a continued or more mark.

Removing or editing the display would be something only possible if those options appear in the app that allows you have the date in your notifications bar. Obviously in this case that would be LockStar. Not sure even without the Day, it would be enough room for even one notification. Looks pretty tight over there.

You could write to the developers letting them know about your request. You're just one person but you may not be the first to make such a request.

I'm sorry, but I don't know of any way to remove the day of the week text or adjust the overflow dot.

The only thing I can suggest, is for day to day use, just leave the Quickstar option off. If you need a screenshot then,
•back out of that screen,
•bring up Quickstar, toggle the feature on,
•go to recent apps,
•return to the screen you need the pic of & take the screenshot.

It's not ideal & a little cumbersome, but that way you can still see more of your notifications & get the date on your screenshots when needed. However, if you take a lot of screenshots, you might not want to do that each time.

Or, if you need to see the date of a screenshot, in gallery, select the 'circle i' at the bottom of the screenshot & the date taken will display. Still, it's an extra step, but the info is there. (You probably already know that, but just a thought...)
