How to Shut Down Music/MP3 Players

I am having a problem with all apps that play music or MP3 files on my Evo 4G. It seems that they lie in wait for something to trigger them to start playing whatever they were playing last. I have even had a music or podcast app start playing while the phone was in my pocket and locked.

My main issue is I just got a car with the MS Ford Sync. As soon as Sync detects and pairs with the phone over Bluetooth, whatever was playing last starts to play. I am assuming this is ?normal? Android behavior but it is very annoying.

On my PC when I exit the media player that is it. It does not start up on its own or even know what was played last. Is there any way that I can get this same behavior from my phone?

Ever receive a reply to this? I have the same problem, the music player just starts up as soon as the car Bluetooth connects. It's annoying. How do I stop the music player from just playing music automatically?

could this be an issue with a setting from the car's side? i do not have this issue with my car's bluetooth.

Unless the app has an "exit'" option the only way to "close" an app is with the back button. Always make sure to back out of the apps your using, that way Android knows to eventually close them down when/if it needs the resources. Always make sure to hit pause or stop on the current track your listening to as well. other than that the only way to completely shut down an app is to go into it's details page and hit force stop. Hope that helps. :)

If you are rooted, some ROMs like Cyanogen have options in them to kill apps. For example, on CM if you hold the Back capacitive button, the app gets killed completely. Very convenient tool to have.

You could also try killing the app with an app killer from the Market.

This is highly advised against, task killers do nothing but hurt Android. Imagine running down the street and all of a sudden your leg disappears, that's basically what those so. Not to mention if Android wasn't ready for those apps to close then it will just restart them anyway thus using more battery and RAM.
