How to skip music while doing something else?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab and want to play background music while I do something else with my tablet.

However, how can I do this? What if I want to skip/fast forward to another song without having to leave the current app and enter the music player app?

Welcome to the forums.
I haven't used a stock Samsung ROM in a while. Is there a music player control in the notification shade? Pull it down while you are in the app you want to stay in. You might see some player controls there.
