How to sync contacts and calender from Galaxy S8 to Outlook on PC

I have been syncing Outlook 2016 on Windows 10 PC with contacts and calendar on my Galaxy S8 using Samsung Smart Switch. Any changes I make in Outlook are then shown on my Galaxy after a sync. However, if I make changes on my Galaxy (for example adding a new contact) and do a sync, the changes are not shown in Outlook. The sync only occurs one way. Is that the way it is supposed to work or am I doing something wrong.
