Do you want to use the stock email app or may I suggest another email client?

So you have your yahoo and gmail accounts added in the settings correct?

Sent from my AT&T One X running CodefireX ROM Android Version 4.4.

I went through the mail app an just entered email an password an that was it.

Make sure you have syncing enabled in the settings as well as in the email app.

All i see in the app is peak time sync set at every hour, peak time set at mon-friday 8am to 8pm,off-peak sync set as every 4 hours.

I meant in your phone's settings. Check the account setting to see if you are allowing email sync.

yes auto sync is on an when i click mail it shows the sync arrows in blue. But yet nothing is being pushed. I havent messed with peak hours etc so not sure if those have to be changed as well?

So can you receive emails at all? For now, I recommend trying Maildroid from the play store.

Isn't there an option that allows you to change how frequent the sync operation is?

it shows ''peak time sync'' an gives smart sync (which i dont know what it is),every 5 min,10 min etc. Then theres ''peak time'' an it gives what time of the day. Then off peak sync. So i dunno what to set what to. Theres no instant push mail option which sucks.

The stock HTC mail app doesnt do push for yahoo or gmail.
It will allow for push if you use an exchange email. And unless things have changed your only allowed 1 of those active at a time for push.

That sucks bigtime! I dont have an exchange mail just yahoo an gmail. Makes me miss the mail app on iOS even though it lagged at times, i still got it pushed to me. So i take it theres no other way except use an app from the playstore?

I find that yahoo mail app pushes to my device, and the google mail app also pushes as it uses imap if memory serves me correct.
