I know I've seen this demonstrated somewhere, but I didn't see an obvious way to do it when, today, I took a rushed call.....important info.....and I could not frig'n find a way to take notes during that phone call.

I ended up opening the notes app, but I thought there'd be a quick obvious way to get a blank note up on the screen.

I put them on speaker phone, then proceed to open up snote at go. I guess you could also do it over Bluetooth headset to keep it private.

Yes....totally.... I assume that the speaker phone is a part of this. I just thought there'd be a little place on the phone screen to quickly create a note associated with that call.

Perhaps there is an app for that?

Not that I use. It's quick. Switch phone to speaker then pull out the pen and open create note. You can talk the whole time you are taking the note. I do it all the time with phone numbers and part numbers. Then save it and your golden.

Just change s-pen settings to open a blank note when you pull out the s-pen

OK.....I'll try that. I have it set to "create note" when I pull the pen. Also, I have the new note shrunk so it doesn't dominate the entire screen. Once it is shrunk, all subsequent new notes open pre-shrunken so I don't have to do that step.
I was just sure that I was missing something. With all of the insane number of features, I had just assumed I wasn't seeing something. I thought it was obvious that the phone application would, surely, have a direct note feature.

Or if you don't want to set your phone to open a note up every time you take out the pen (like me) just take out the pen, press and hold the button and double tap the screen.

you should also be able to hit the power button to blk the screen and then take the spen out to make a screen off memo.

personally i have a widget set on one of my screens to be able to take quick notes, whether I'm on the phone or not.

I don't know if it was the Pie update, or if it happened before that, but at some point this stopped working during a (speaker) phone call for me.

I actually like this option (below) better now. And you can change the app whenever you like. One thing to note is when you hold the button in, you need to hold it in for a couple of seconds. And you need to hold the pen an inch or more from the screen, otherwise it will open the Air Command feature.

....

Settings
> Advanced Features
> S Pen (manage S Pen features)
> S Pen (remotely control apps with your S Pen)
> Hold Down Pen To (choose Create Note).
(Option may be defaulted to Off, so turn on first.)

This is the way I set it up. I don't want Air Command showing up every time I remove the S Pen.

Thanks. I had no idea you could turn off the air command feature.
