How can I tell if my phone is in USB 3.0 mode whilst plugged in?

It's a blue-ported USB 3.0 cable.

USB 3.0 does NOT charge the phone faster. It's for faster data transfer when connected to a PC. If your PC is USB 3.0 than it's automatically connected to USB 3.0.

not entirely true. A USB 3.0 phone on a USB 3.0 port charges with 1A - via 0.5A if one or both ports are USB 2.

Ac makes no difference. Pc, the USB connection icon, from the notification area, I think you click on it, then gives the usb3 option.
