How to transfer game/app data from Android to PC

Hello.

I have a relative who has a Proscan 8 inch android tablet. It was working properly. She accidentally dropped it and there is now a small crack on the lower right side of the tablet. Now the touchscreen is unresponsive and the tablet cannot turn off, even when pressing the power button for a long time. It just won't turn off.

She got a Samsung Galaxy tablet, but wanted to save her apps from the Proscan app. She assumed that Google Play saved game and app progress from one tablet to another tablet. However, she has to start all over again from her google play apps when she reinstalled her apps.

My question is: How do I transfer android app data from the Proscan tablet to the Samsung tablet using a PC. I looked at all the Proscan tablet files and they are at around 5.34 GB total, but when I copy all the files to my desktop and put them in a folder, there is only about 156 MB total. I assumed that there were hidden files, like in an ipod, but I had "Show Hidden Files" checked on my PC.

Sorry, I think you're out of luck here, since most of the data used for a game/app live in a "sandboxed" environment, out of reach for the file system.
If it's at all possible to transfer the data, your only chance is probably to go via Google Play somehow.

I haven't used it, not sure if Samsung Smart Switch will copy the app data but it's worth looking into.

Most of the data is probably in a folder like /data/data/proscan, and you can't see past /data (it will be an empty folder) unless the tablet is rooted.

(Windows and Linux hide files differently, so a "hidden" file on the tablet just has a dot as the first character, like the .nomedia file. Windows sees those files just fine. But it won't see files in folders that you don't have permissions to, and your permissions to /data is 000 [no read, no write, no execute].)

Unless you can run the game, and it exports or saves its data and/or scores to an externally accessible (meaning accessible to you) file, you can't transfer the data.
