How to turn off (not restart) HTC U11 with broken screen?

[Android Central Question]

My screen is dead, and I cant turn phone off without clicking on power off on screen menu. How to force turn off without screen? I dont wont restart, reboot, just shut down. Need to take out my sim card and put it in another phone as soon as possible, cant wait for a battery to shut down.

Isn't Hold Power and Volume Down for restart?

You may well be right. These things vary from one device to another and I myself have very little experience of HTC phones. In that case, holding Power alone may shut down the phone; either that, or holding Power and Volume Down, but releasing both buttons as soon as the screen turns off, so that the phone has no chance to restart.
