AC Question

How do I disable "get my weather daily"from my samsung galaxy tab A. When I go to application manager all I have is force stop and disable not uninstall and neither one of the others have worked.

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Security>Device Administrators, and see if it's listed there. If it is, uncheck it there, then go back to the App Manager and try to uninstall it again.

Thanks B. Diddy for your reply. I have went through all of those steps to no avail. It must be some kind of bloatware because it is loaded with ads. I'm ready to scream, be more careful with the touch screen in the future.

To get rid of it, you may have to do a factory reset (after backing up your important data). Then reinstall your apps one by one, checking to see if that app shows up again after each install.

I suspect it's not an app but only a web page.

Make sure it's just not an open (hidden) tab in Chrome.
Open Chrome and look for the square box the the right of the address bar that has a number in it.
Click on the box.
Now click the three vertical dots to the right of the box and choose "Close all Tabs"
Re open Chrome and make sure you're going to the home page of your choice.

But the OP mentioned that it's listed in the App Manager, with only a Force Stop and Disable button. That wouldn't happen with a webpage.

Worth a try. But if Malwarebytes or other reputable security apps can't get rid of it, then the next step is probably a factory reset. If it shows up after a factory reset, then the malware might be installed to the system root, which can be very difficult to get rid of. That usually requires the firmware to be reinstalled.

I think I just found the way to stop it. It is not an app, so we cannot uninstall. When you receive the announcement, there is a little setting icone on this annoucement. If you tap the setting there, you get a page where you can stop it.

Open the Chrome app touch the the vertical dots in upper right corner then:

Settings>Site Settings>Storage

Scroll down till you find Getmyweatherdaily.com (there may be more than one) tap on it (or them one at a time) then tap the trash and "Clear All" to get it off your list.

You have just made my day! I couldn't get rid of that pesky weather until I read your post. Thanks! :)

Re: How to uninstall "GetMyWeatherDaily", "Daily Weather" App

Yes, the app may have different names...

In my case it was called "Daily Weather", it did show in the Application manager as a system app, no "Uninstall" button.

It turns out it set itself up as the default launcher, so, to get rid of it:

- Settings > Applications > Default Applications > Home

Next to the 'Daily Weather' you should see a 'trash' icon, click on it to delete it! and select your desired default Home screen...

That did it for me guys!
Thanks to you all who pitch in and Hope the best for those of you getting rid of this thing!
