How to unlock my Verizon phone?

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge online and it is locked to Verizon. I live in New Zealand so I want to unlock the phone to be able to use with an NZ sim. When I put an NZ sim into the phone it does not ask for an unlock code, it just says "Sim card is not from Verizon Wireless" in the notification bar. Before this, I was only able to send and receive texts, but now I am able to send and receive texts and calls without doing anything to it, however I still can't use mobile data. Any help would be much appreciated.

The S7 was never locked to Verizon, they were sold unlocked. If it was locked you wouldn't have voice or text.

You either need to change the APN settings to get it working, or it may not have the right bands to work on your network.
