How to update Android version if you have a Verizon phone and you're using it outside of U.S?

Okay so I got myself a Motorola Droid Maxx 2 (Droid Maxx play). I don't know much about carriers in the U.S. I can use my own Sim card and the phone has Verizon bloatware. Now I want to update my Android from Marshmallow to Nougat. I don't know if Motorola released Nougat for this phone yet or not but Motorola will. Suppose they have, how will I update my Android version? Verizon is not supported here so will I still receive OTA update? If not then can I manually download and flash the update?
(Current country: Pakistan)
Thank you in advance.

Usually, for carrier-specific phones, you have to be on that carrier's network to get the official update. You could try Verizon's Software Update Assistant, but it also might not work if you're not currently on Verizon.
