How to use a regular USB accessory with the Pro?

I tried using my usb charger on my Pro12.2 but the tablet didn't see it. I want to use a mouse that has a usb connection. Is there a special adapter I need? Also, does this new usb have a name?

I have the regular micro USB adapter and it works fine.
