I'm sure you've done something by now, but in general I've never heard where it hurt to restart things - pull the plug, pull the battery, restart Odin, try again.

First of all, thank you for this. I just wanted to mention that I couldn't get Odin to see my phone. It connected just fine, but Odin couldn't see it. I uninstalled Kies and Samsung drivers through the control panel on my Windows 8 laptop, i rebooted. Then I installed the SGS3 drivers contained in the Odin download and rebooted again, and it fixed the issue for me. I was back to stock in less than 10 minutes from that point.

Edit: Originally I rooted with Casual. After I returned to stock using the method in the OP, my phone automatically downloaded and installed a 4.1.1 update. Then it found the 4.1.2 update and installed it. My phone started flashing the "Galaxy Note 2" screen on and off and nothing would make it stop. After researching a bit, I found a thread about it and someone said to flash the pit file along with the tar file. So I did that. Both updates were successful.

[ODIN][VRALJB] Restore to Stock - xda-developers

This is where I found the file to properly restore my phone, this file doesn't include sboot.bin and if you have this error will work for you. (Worked for me) You need 7zip to unzip the .xy file.

Stuck.

So I followed the steps and was able to restore it to stock without issue. I began the OTA updates and after downloading and allowing the phone to restart on its own, I was stuck in the boot loop. I know where I went wrong, I didn't wipe cache.

I tried booting into recovery (volume up+home+power) and it just goes into the boot loop. I went into download mode and kicked off the .tar file in Odin and it fails right after the "NAND Write Start"

Any suggestions?
