I don't want my Pixel waking up just because I move it or take it out of my pocket. So I turned off "lift to check phone."

I have "tap to check phone" ON.

BUT when I want to access my phone I tap the screen. I tap it multiple times. I punch it. Sometimes it awakens and sometimes there's no reaction. It seems kind of random if it will wake up after a tap or series of taps. Eventually, it does awaken and I'm presented with the "fingerprint sensor". Is there yet another setting?

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance.

I have encountered this too where the phone is unresponsive after a deep sleep. Power button is the only way to wake it at that point.

I am kind of a light sleeper and wake up reasonably fast. I want my phone to emulate me and not some lazy, sleep-in kind of dude! :)

It does usually finally wake up but it is not consistent. I don't know if it wants one, nice solid tap or two consecutive taps or a wallop!

I see that happen on occasion -- sometimes I have to double-tap the screen, but other times I have to press the Power button. I'd send feedback to Google when this happen.

I just returned from a two hour bike ride. I simply tapped the screen twice and it woke up. No rhyme or reason. Finger printer sensor responded immediately, too.

It seems to be an issue for months on quite a few of these phones. My P6P has done the exact same thing numerous times since day 1 back in November and no update has fixed it yet. Hoping they fix it at some point but who knows. When mine does it, I just press the power button and get on with whatever I was going to do.
