T0ast3d nailed it. @wormdood just download ROM Manager and download it through that. It's simple to do once you have ROM Manager

got my phone rooted and all. but i have one small problem. when i go into the hboot menu and try to go to recovery.. i get the black screen.. i tried reinstalling clockwork, but cant get it to go thru.. any ideas? thanks

Having some serious issues with this now. I rooted via this method flawlessly 6 weeks ago but I bought my wife an Evo last night and now it won't work.

The issue I am having is that when I get to the step with the bootloader, when it checks for PC36IMG.zip, I get the dreaded update fail message. I have tried using SimpleRoot, gbhils walkthrough, and even the idiotproof version at xda and nothing was worked. I've cleared the sd card, downloaded the zip and placed it directly, pushed it via adb with SimpleRoot and I get caught on the same step.

After reading 30+ pages there and this thread I can't find any kind of fix. If anyone has found a resolution to this, hook a brotha up. Thanks in advance for any help.

your wifes evo have with the newest software installed. you have to root via flash exploit. Its over at XDA, hasn't been updated here yet.

what is the actual method? I went to that flash site I saw listed in the thread and refreshed it at least a dozen times. Then rebooted to the boot loader and it still doesn't process the zip. I actually did that a few times and it never worked.

hopefully someone can answer this I have Amon Recovery I want to be able to use Clockwork Recovery, Is it possible to change and switch to CW... If so were do I start... Frustrated with other forums not helping if this is not the right forum can anyone tell me where to go, at least be nicer than else where.. Thank you

These instructions are depreciated. Currently there is no root method for 2.2 on the Evo, and we're working on a new sticky post to discuss the issue.

I'm closing this, but leaving it for posterity.
