How to wipe HDD from LGV10 stuck in boot loop?

My LG V10 that I've had < 1 year overheated and now is stuck in a boot loop. After doing some research, and talking to a couple professionals, the diagnosis is a new motherboard, like with many newer LG smartphones, which could potentially have the same issue in the future. Thus, I decided to replace the phone. I want to recycle it, but first would like to wipe the HDD of any of my personal information in case it gets into the wrong hands. I have tried doing a soft and a hard reset to no avail. LG Bridge software does not recognize my device; and LG PC Suite does not run in compatibility mode on Windows 10 for me. What is my best move to wipe out information without opening the phone and physically destroying the inside?
