How well does Bluestacks work/easy to use?

I'm at the point where all the Android/Amazon apps I have will kill my phone or aging tablet, so, I'm just curious, as I heard about being able to run your apps on your PC, how well does that work?

Have you also considered disabling Andriod/Amazon play store autoupdating and rolling back as many apps as possible to their factory versions?

I did that with my ageing tablet and managed to squeeze more life/performance out of it.
