For my devices in the past that used Gorilla glass, it doesn't stand up that well, out of the past five times I've dropped a phone using Gorilla glass its shattered 4 times. It mainly meant to resist the scratching, from common items

Ugh! I was hoping it would be safe to have a naked screen since the cheap screen protector I got off EBay always bubbles.
Best way I've found to prevent drops is to buy insurance.Haha I've been very unlucky in 2011. This all happened in one year, dropped my tablet (3 times) on average a distance of 4 feet onto tiles and shattered. lol. Hopefully 2012 will be better for me
Screen protectors don't do squat for drops. They just prevent scratches. Personally, I always run naked (but then I never put my phone in a hip pocket with keys etc.)
Well, I use a case. A screen protector might help depending on how bad the drop was. It wouldn't prevent a complete shatter, but more minor drops wouldn't cause scratches.
Also, the GN doesn't have Gorilla glass?
gorilla glasses are scratch resistance not against shock.........
