So, i've never ordered anything from the google play store before. How do they ship their products (speaking US only here) is it FedEx? UPS? USPS?

I was just curious as to if when it does ship we will be getting an email with a tracking number on it and if we may have to deal with the fact that some shippers will not leave it on your door step.

Damn...I hate ups. They will deliver my package at the last possible minute in the day. :-/

I seem to have the same problem. It's strange. You KNOW that they are out all day but I swear I never get anything before 6pm when they use UPS.

I like UPS. My office generally gets all deliveries in the morning and my driver is very nice. If I am not here, she will hold the package and check back more than once in the day. If she still cant find me, she will deliver the package to my house (which is about a mile from my office). To me, that is GREAT service!

Same here and if u call them ahead of time to ask if u can just pick it up they'll tell u no they have to attempt delivery at least 2x first and then they sometimes require auth from the shipper before releasing it.

They deliver to businesses first. My biz is in my home so it's still considered residential to UPS.

UPS is bar none one of my least favorite companies ever. I stopped shopping with Walmart.com because it seemed 9 times out of 10 they were using UPS.

The 1-800 number is completely useless because they can give you no additional information than what I can read on the website.

Also like another member said, if they suddenly change the delivery date on you (which they have done tons of times) and you won't be home. They can't simply hold it for you at the center to pick up when they open. They have to make 2 failed attempts.

Work around: Go to the local center as soon as the open and tell them they were holding your package for you (even if they told you they wouldn't). They will go and search it down for like 15 mins but then you get to go home with your shipment.

After USPS fails I hope UPS is next on the chopping block.

i get my stuff in right when i go to work (11am). i have to bribe family members to watch the door between 1030 and 1130 lol.

Well, to even out the score, I am (my office) the last stop (or so it seems) on my USPS route. I still dont think the mail has come today. Evidently the private company (UPS) understands business and the "gubmint", does not. Sure would be nice to get my mail early and make the bank deposit the same day the checks come in.

I prefer UPS but where I live the delivery time depends on how the product was shipped. I receive regular shipping in the afternoon between 2 and 5pm. Next day or 2 day air is delivered in the morning.

The UPS guy drives by my house at least 10 times throughout the day getting my hopes up then at like 7pm (or ever 9pm a few times) he will come by and throw the package at my door and leave without even knocking.

Expected Delivery: 07/17/2012
via Staples Courier
Status: Cancelled

I'm wondering why the status is cancelled. I will call and let you guys know.

On a different note, on the Staples order page, it says both 1-3 day delivery and 3-6 day deliver. I was told that the 3-6 day was just an overall estimate and the 1-3 day is the actual deliver time. I think Staples is also using UPS. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Found this via google and thought I'd chip in. I used to work at a pack center for UPS but I don't anymore so I'm not some PR guy or whatever.

A) The website and hotline contains the same information, which is where the package is at the latest as scanned by a loader or computer (loaders wear scanners). There's no "secret" information being held on your package other than what specific truck it is in (you're shown the route). It was at point C when it was scanned last and is on it's way to point D.

B) Holding the package would require sending someone to go find it in the mess that is a shipping center. The process is designed to get it delivered to your home. You can put it in advance that you want it held and then they can hold it since it will change the system to send the package to the office and not the car.

C) UPS delivers to businesses first then the home, usually because people are _working during the day_. My uncle owns a small 1 man business not far from where I used to live and the same UPS driver delivered to both places. At 10am he was at my uncles shop whereas I would get my packages around 3 at my home.

D) I hate USPS. I just moved and I'm still not getting my mail but FedEx and UPS have both delivered boxes successfully. Found this thread to see what Google uses to ship and I'm relieved it's not USPS, I'd take the old DHL over USPS any day. Plus in the past they've either stolen or delivered packages of mine wrong with no way for me to get it back. I even had security footage showing they didn't deliver it. I'm glad they're being fired. In before libertarians.
