How would you rate the Elite?

I have been using the LG-VM670 for the past couple of years and I have had a great experience, largely due to great ROM community here for the device. It is time for an upgrade and I don't have a lot of money to spend, so I thought an Elite might be a nice choice, seeing as how there seems to be a fairly active development community here for it.

However I have heard conflicting reports about the phone, some say it is a capable if underpowered device, and others have described it as a 'turd'. As objectively as you can, let me know what you experience with it has been like.

Bonus points if any of you have any experience with a Kyocera Rise, I really like the physical keyboard and the stock ICS, as well as how snappy it takes pictures, even though it is only 3.5 MPS, I think quicker is better for being able to actually capture images. And more Megapixels doesn't automatically mean better anyway. The downside to this phone is, as far as I can tell, there is no ROM scene at all, which would be a pretty big drawback for me.

The Elite is a great phone other then it can't handle 3G (3G will turn off for like 30 sec then turn back on) but in the hidden menu changing it to CDMA only is a great solution (although its 2G) if you put CM9 on it then the 2G fast (like 3G speeds).
As for the Kyocera Rise I had one and I wasn't happy with it. It would freeze, reboot, completely bug out, bricks SUPER easy and with a locked bootloader its not going to get any better. Although the key bored was great on it.
