How's it working as a PHONE?

It seems to work great as a phone on my end. Neither my wife nor my mom could tell when I put them on speaker phone, so not only is the phone itself good, but the speaker phone noise cancelling technology must be pretty good.
My sisters know when I put them on the speaker they always scream and say omg that echo again get me off the speaker lol. I dont know why it does that.

Any luck with speaker phone quality on the new one? I've gotten complaints from two people now on feedback/echoing when using the speaker phone...

I've been getting this complaint from people as well. I don't know if I should return this phone or blame it on a network issue or software problem. Any ideas?

Hello All,

was anyone able to resolve the speakerphone echo problem without having to return there phones? when I place calls on speaker the noise the other party hear is ridiculous, I never hear it but it annoys whoever I place on speaker. Any Ideas as to what i should do?

Mine worked great but I came from ATT so that might be part of my perception.
Thank you for replying, I also came from at&t previous iphone4 user, But I think this has something to do with bad speakers, I tested them by having my son call me on my phone and I told him to put it on speaker and talk to me and omg the echoing sound was crazy, its like the phone picks up any little noise.

No hissing noticed during calls, in quiet surroundings no problem with speaker phone, works great with both my BlueTooth headsets. I have not used wired earphone/mic device so no idea there.

hmm maybe it's because i don't have a headphone? I have no clue but Best Buy said I can exchange for a new one if within 30 day worry free guarantee

Same speakerphone issues here. Got 2 Thunderbolts last night. Observed terrible echo/screeching on one of them while on speakerphone under multiple conditions - different grips, with/without case, different volume levels, from cellphone or landline as other caller -- all had the problem. The other Thunderbolt was fine. Went into Verizon and they hemmed/hawwed said it's how you are holding phone, etc. Convinced them to do a swap anyway. Second phone was just as bad as the first. Went back to VZW AGAIN, but this time with the "good" phone and "bad" one. They then at least believed there was a problem - the person testing the phone this time spoke louder - I think the caller on the other end's speech volume is also related.

They did one more phone swap and in the test in the store they VZW guy said he heard an echo - I didn't test in the store. At home, however, this 3rd phone seems on initial tests to be much better - possibly as good as the "good" other phone. In the meantime, though, they have filed a trouble ticket - so we will see where that leads.

Not sure it matters, but between 1st and 2nd phones, they moved battery and SD card to the new phone. With 3rd phone, they didn't move anything. Doubtful that such a problem would "follow" a bad battery.
