How good is G3's battery life?
Some say it's average, some say it's really good...

I think I mostly browse the web at my phone...
Will it survive a full day?
I'd love to hear some thoughts about it's battery life from you :)

Edit: By the way, which version would you say have better battery life : 4.4 or 5.0.1

Thanks!

Only had the phone for a week myself and so far I'd have to say battery life isn't great.
Without charging through the day, stamina mode tends to kick in before I get home from work.
That's with a couple of hours screen time at most.

My last phone a Z2 would still have plenty of battery left at the end of the day with more screen on time.

Agree with the above. On stock 5.0.

Xperia z1 and nexus 6 which I have last a while longer.

Lg told me it was an Google android issue (battery monitor suggests this could be true).

Problem is lg havent issued the android updates.

So, when does it drain out? how many hours would it last?

I guess they are just waiting for Marshmallow, and will release it, instead of 5.1 ?

Maybe I should wait for LG G3 to receive Marshmallow instead of buying it right now, and see how it effects the phone?

I wouldn't expect software miracles, more like slight improvements.
The G3 has a fairly inefficient and large high res screen to try and power, that power has to come from the same battery as everything else.
On full brightness you can almost see the battery life drop and I don't see M making the phone sip less power making up for that screen.

The screen is glorious though and worth every mah it drains IMHO ;)

I guess I will be on 50% then, mostly...
Can you give me examples of ur day with the battery life? Like, how long you last doing what?
I really wanna check that the phone can give me a full day (12 hours) before I will buy it...

My latest battery stats with some clever SetCPU prfiles and under-volting.

Notice the 0% lost over night (7 hours). I'm not even running Amplify to block wakelocks.

Now it sucks. I'm a fairly light user and after two days my battery is down near 50%. About 6 months ago I would be in the high 70's left after two days. I'm still on Kit Kat.

This is a fairly average day for me, came off charge at 6.15am, it's now 16.47 and I'm on 26%.
It may get me home tonight but it'll be running on fumes.

Edit:
Nope didn't make it home without shutting down satnav at 8% 40 minutes after that screenshot.

I have experienced similar, that I took it off the charger at 8am Sunday morning, and at 6pm it dropped to 99% battery left. That is without touching the phone all day, except looking quickly what messages came through. I find this excellent.

Well, going from 100% to 99% is different than all others, since there is an overcharge going on and Android is incorrectly reporting the battery %.

But this phone has excellent standby numbers, if you get the firmware running correctly. This can be achieved with the stock rom as well, although maybe not as good as my numbers.

I'd love to hear how can that be achieved with the stock rom..
I guess you mean I should update to the latest version?

by the way, a friend of mine did a test for me -
On 100% brightness, a 1:30 hour movie took only 15% perfect of the battery...

Means, reaching 1:30 hour SOT for only 15% (predicting it to be 10% - 1 hour SOT), which is quite weird, as you guys are saying you only got 3 to 4 hours...

I've had the G3 for a couple of months now and found the battery life to be quite good...at the end of the day I'm usually at 30%-40% with 3 1/2 hours screen on time....I'm not a gamer at all and I manually adjust the screen brightness and still running the stock rom...the screen is beautiful but it is also the biggest juice sucker.

The latest version, and you need to tweak some of the settings like syncing, background apps, etc so you don't get so much drain while idle.

Those numbers are not realistic and I doubt their authenticity. Especially at 100% brightness.

Yeah, you can get 6-7 hours with a very low brightness and no gaming. Gaming takes up a lot of juice.

Yeah the screen is incredibly greedy for battery power.

My morning drive into work with Waze and a podcast over bluetooth in the background.
On my Z2 I would arrive into work with 91% battery left.
The G3 has 78% battery left.

That's the difference the screen makes.

It's a lovely screen but I'm not sure the extra resolution makes up for the massive battery drain IMHO.

I got sick of needing to put the phone on charge after half a day so I have now done a reset.
We'll see how it runs over the next couple of days of normal use.

Here is shot at 50% with no undervolting and over clocking, on Cloudy G3 with the stock kernel:

My "solution" is rather different. It works for me and may not for others. It just requires about as much effort as you'd need to put into a smart watch.

I have 2 batteries and an external chargers. Many days I can make it through by topping off, but what I do is use the hell out of my phone at full brightness. I do use Greenify, but I just like to control which apps can wake up without prompting anyways. So I don't worry about screen on time, what radios are on, should I really watch this movie right now ... I use the phone as much as I want and maybe I'll need to take 2 minutes in the afternoon to swap out and "quick charge" to 100%. So I carry around a thin battery (wrapped in some rubber bands) so around and pop it into my charger at night and back into my pocket in the morning. It has the added benefit hopefully of extending the life of both batteries.

I just like to add this option and put it out there, because it's one of the reasons I bought this phones and it's an option that is disappearing.
