How's the Camera compared to the Galaxy S3 or in General?

I currently own the S3 and while the One looks great, I am not sure if 4 mega ultra pixels is enough for me. I am not too concerned about night time photos.
I really don't want to downgrade on the camera. Do you think OS 4.2.2 will be available in the next few months?

Thanks for your comments.

I think the camera is better than the S3. You may not realize that you don't need to be concerned about night time photos, but indoor shots in general. Sure, the mp count is not as good as an S3 or S4, but it's still pretty good. Take a look at the photo thread.

Compared to my iphone 5, I think this device does a lot better in low light. Love it.

I had an s3 and for me the camera on the s3 was def better in general, The one seemingly is better in low light conditions but i havent done a side by side so i cant really say if its better or not but i havent been overly impressed with its low light performance, For me its a decent camera but there's better out there!!

I gotta admit that some of the pictures taken with the one do look impressive but for some reason that hasnt been the case with my htc one, Pics are ok but not as clear/crisp and detailed as the ones i recall taking on my s3

I think if you are looking at the full res image on a computer, then maybe the One won't look as good as the others in some instances. But for looking at a photo downsampled on Facebook or whatever, then it will look better. Make sense?

Ironically any pic i saw that i was impressed with was viewed on the comp where as pics i took were just viewed on my phones display

I think the camera is good, but there are some issues with dynamic range. It tends to blow highlights. So, you have to be careful and maybe turn down exposure or use HDR mode in some cases. I find the controls to adjust the settings are not real easy to use either, so that makes adjustments a pain.

The 4 mp have, in my experience with the phone, been sufficient. There is even room to crop the photos and display full screen without issue.

I understand there is an update rolling in Europe that may help with the dynamic range a bit.

Overall, notwithstanding the dynamic range issue, I am enjoying using the camera. It has fun features and is easy to get good shots if you are careful with the exposure.

I have taken many more pictures with the One than all my other phone cameras combined, and I have only had the one for a week. That says something about how fun it is to use and the quality of the output.

Here is an example- this was slightly cropped from a zoe. What more do you want from a phone camera? The zoe allowed me to choose the exact instant I wanted form a 3 second 20 shot burst. And the zoe went into a highlight too.

To me this makes the camera fun to use and I think the output is more than acceptable.
