Hows your battery life?

I get around 16-17 hours with moderate use. But about 8 hours of that is in a black hole for service so the phone is constantly switching between service, roam, no service. So I would say 16-17 hours is great. My Nexus S wouldn't even last the 8 hours while at work with out a charge.

I have the spare battery and external charger, so I have been calibrating the 2 batteries by allowing them to drain all the down. Then full charge in the external charger. I can get maybe 14 hours with the screen on 4-5 hours and only syncing Gmail when necessary. However my outlook is always syncing.

My battery status app says that I should be able to get 20 hours. When I first started to use the app it said like 8 hours, and but it has went up after every calibration. View attachment 29222

Here are my first day stats too. They sucked but got better obviously. View attachment 29223

4-5 hours screen on time sounds pretty good to me. I could live with that. I can get three hours with my E4GT but that is pushing it. I mostly get around 2.5

So far my battery has not been good. Everything is pretty much stock right now.

I know there are some mods out there for the battery, I plan on doing the camera mod specially since it makes the video 30fps! What is the Evo LTE fps?

I got the phone today, rooted it, synced my gmail, charged it.... and the screen has only been on for merely an hour and 35 minutes.. and i'm at 16% now.

I'm really hoping it was due to poor signal where i was or perhaps needing to be conditioned.

Sigh.

There's a mod out for the Sprint gd3 that turns off one of the cores whenever the screen is off.

When I have a good signal, I can get over 10 hours out of my phone. But that's the problem, getting a good signal. Spring's service is really bad right now. I'm looking forward to the upgrades.

So I am at almost max drain mode for me, (frequent syncing, playing with everything), I'm at 5 1/2 hours post full charge, screen has been on a little over 2 hours total. I have been using GPS, downloading, facebook, text etc, making no effort to save battery. I had 54% remaining, which is awesome for me. My epic would be dead already. My "normal" use is gonna net me 16 hours minimum... great phone.

NEWB question...what is the purpose of using wi-fi when you can get it? I have wifi in my home. If I just use the Wifi what is the advantage? and this may be a dumb question, but will i still receive phone calls?

In addition to better battery life when using WiFi, you will also get faster download speeds (assuming you are not in a Sprint LTE area).

I came from an Evo 4G and had to use a larger battery to get through a day. When I got the S3 I tweaked everything in sight to give me the best battery life BUT still allowing me to use the device the way I wanted to use it. WiFi, GPS and BT are on all the time. I put a widget on the desktop to allow me to keep the brightness set to a level that is comfortable and bright enough to see without straining. I have not installed any app to help save the battery other than the download Sprint pushed out.

Yesterday morning I unplugged my phone and left the house for several hours with the phone on 3G but hardly used. After I came home (WiFi) I streamed three albums from Google Music and listened to them using my Samsung BT stereo headphones. I also did the normal few calls, email, Twitter, Facebook and usual stuff but not overly heavy. The phone was on overnight but not plugged in. Today I listened to a podcast (again BT but to the car radio) while driving to an appointment. Now at 5 PM after 34 hours off the charger I still have 23% battery. My wife is getting similar battery life with her S3. :D

So far, I am very happy with the battery life and everything else with this phone.

I am not very impressed with the battery life of the GS3 so far. I am coming from a BB Bold, with a lot less bells and whistles, but this is rediculous. Fully charged in the morning, 5 minutes of calls during the day, dead by 4 o'clock. I am trying to find where to change the sync intervals for gmail, facebook widget, yahoo news widgets (all widgets actually) and I can't find it. I suppose that GPS is a killer, so I have turned that off. Also, moved to "CDMA" instead of "LTE" network setting. Wifi off in sleep mode as well. Any comments/ideas?

Do have an issue at work (bad reception; good data signal - go figure). I do really want this to work out, because other than the battery life, I love this phone. Don't want to go to iPhone.

Thanks!
:)

Plus if your signal isn't great wifi is faster
