AT&T on facebook today posted this

We?re excited to let you know that today we began deploying an update for the HTC Inspire? 4G that includes the addition of HSUPA! An update that adds HSUPA for the Motorola ATRIX? 4G has also cleared testing and will be deployed soon. We expect the software to roll out to customers of both phones over the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more.

Just thought I'd share.

Update:
Yep thats right.. just chatted with AT&T tech support. he said "within the next few days......) he also wanted to give me a link to motorola update site cuz he said "it's actually them who are doing the update".....

I have a question, I am not sure if it is a legal thing to ask on this forum so please don't bash me if its wrong to ask here. anyway.. the update file must go somewhere on the phone right? is it possible to extract it somehow, upload on any free hosting site and let other people download it and install... thanks. had to try it.....

Never mind my comment. I see that the update was pulled from the manual method.

yes its possible and been done.

Welll.... care to share where i might find the link maybe...? Or you are referring to the resent xda hack that involves reflashing, rooting and that kinda stuff?

xda has a link to the 600 mb update file in the general atrix forum, no root, its a flash file that keeps your current data saved

Well according to what i've been told by att techsupport it could take few days before i get the update it could be next week the week after LOL yeahh i dont feel like experimenting with my phone and risking to brick it... so better wait for official update... oh well.. it is what it is...

Well i understand that but you see my knowledge on android OS is very limited and from what i read on xda it requires a special software to load the file plus there is a warning about possibility of making the device ubootable. I mean of course i could dedicate time and effort into learning and trying out all those things but i dont feel like going through all this hassle. So i'll just wait for official release... but thank you for your help anyway.

Its probably gonna come today being its the last day of April. Your gonna be happy once you get it. And I wouldnt recommend flashing anything to get it. Just wait for official. Possibly today :)
Haha thanks for reassuring man! Although there is a big chance i might not get it today as the att rep said while i was chatting with him " within the next few days" LOL but its ok though. I am in NY metro area and people reporting that there isnt much improvement in speeds here... but I'll just wait of course. I'm also interested to see how other issues were fixed especially the voice quality
Anyway i like the atrix and if they would enable true HDMI mirroring for it in this update that would be really awesome...

The speeds are gonna make you pretty happy :). Hmm, let me try the HDMI and see. I know for sure there is HDMI Mirroring for the Xoom because Ive done that already. But I can check with this. Not sure though.
Well i came across few threads about it and the way HDMI works on atrix is different than it on T-Mobile's LG G2X... when connected to the tv atrix will display its own customized interface where you can chose only music videos and pictures. But LG (and other high end phones in this category) are able to output games on TV... sort of like my archos 70 did.... and having that on atrix would be a really great feature considering the phones nvidia processor.. unfortunately there is only a so called webtop hack available on xda forums which requires root.... and even with it you cant play games. Thats a real shame....

Maybe i didnt understand right the people from xda forums but i remember someone was complaining about not being able to play games with the hack... anyway i didnt want to do it mainly because of complication of the process... i am not brave enough to mess with my phone yet LOL i used to mess a lot with my bold 9700 loading leaked os and hybrids and it was fun. Maybe I'll experiment with atrix a little later when i know more about android :)

I consider myself a novice with Android and I was able to download the 600mb file and update my Atrix with no issues. I was also able to get root back and everything is working great. If you follow the posts on XDA you shouldn't have a problem. I always make sure I read the whole posts before doing anything that way if some one has a problem updating I will already know the pitfalls. My download speeds are above 5Mb/s and upload speeds are over 1Mb/s. I wouldn't necessarily call that "4G" but it is MUCH faster than what I was getting before.

I tried to upload a screenshot of my speeds to show how fast it is now...

well im thinking fo doing it right now... but one question though.. when i'll get the update notification from ATT will it recognize that my phone is already updated? or it wll continue to nag me all the time without possibility to get rid of it?
